Re: [DML] A good message for ALL the vendors.

Which is why I mentioned email. There are many forms of contact, and we are using most of them, just not an online ordering website at the dealer level. Houston does that very well, and the cost of completely duplicating that effort hasn't been justified quite yet although we'll probably get there in some form.

FYI - We have dealt with customers on the phone, email, facebook, text messages, skype (at odd hours from the other side of the world), and IM on forums that support it. I will admit that I just don't "get" twitter though!

Also as someone mentioned there are very good reasons to correspond on an order rather than just keying it into a pick sheet, and I don't just mean on the phone. We probably talk people out of as much stuff as we talk them into, and just putting in a web order would not have provided such a benefit. Sometimes it is as simple as asking why/if you really only want one spark plug. . . .or gaskets that go with something you may not have thought of. Some people need this help, some don't.

The trend you mention about people under 25 is definitely true, and it is leading to an interesting social effect - the same people who communicate the most using typed media seem to have the worst ability to spell!
