This one here I have to say my peace. The reason for going to fuel injection is to distribute an equal amount of fuel to each cylinder, which cannot be done as accurately with carburetion. Back in the 70's when designing racing engines people used what was called a "High Rise Intake Manifold". The purpose of this was to increase the area underneath (known as a plenum) in attempts to equalize the fuel mixture to reach each intake runner port equally. So when you go tune your engine you have to adjust the fuel mixture to compensate for the leanest running cylinder thereby allowing the richest running cylinder to run rich. I also remember the "Eldebrock Torquer Manifold" where they twisted the carburetor about a vertical axis approximately 10 - 15 degrees in attermpts to further improve equal fuel distribution.

The next stage for carburetion was using a tunnel ram manifold. The advantage of this configuration was to tune the intake port runners, basically the same as running headers on the exhaust.

The K-Jet fuel injection reduces most of these limitations. By splitting the intake to two banks allowed the designers to increase the length of the intake runners. By utilizing fuel injection, an equal amount of fuel can be injected into each cylinder. One can probably argue a continuous feed injection system is not as efficient as an electronic fuel injection system, but that's another thread.

So for increased performance, no. I see no loss in performance as long as it's tuned properly, but I see some lower fuel economy and higher fuel emissions.

Well I found it interesting to see the inside, now I find it amusing just to prove a point. Any way, I learned here.
