[DML] Re: Carbon fiber louvers - New SS frame

That is a link to the album itself. You may need to be a Facebook user to see it in its entirety. These individual photo links should work (you won't be able to see the accompanying captions, so I've cut & pasted them here):

Byrne's ball joints do not have grease fittings -- I added some.

My Uding brackets are mounted against C40 hardened washers rather than the shock tower (Ed's original design is for the protruding bolt tube and weld bead to go inside the bushing so that the bushing face is pressed against the shock tower side). Washers not only allow the brackets to rotate easier, but they also eliminate squeaking. And they protect my paint job.

Another view of the rotating washers. *NOTE*: these are 1/8" thick hardened washers. They will not bend backwards on the protruding bolt tube, nor will the tube eat into them. Note also that the entire bushing face is supported against the washer -- they provide exactly the same stability as pressing the bushings against the shock towers themselves, yet allow the brackets to move more freely and quietly. Longer pivot bolts were necessary.

Rumors that the sway bar will rip its mounts off are grossly exaggerated.

To better accommodate the sway bar's arc of travel, I turned the mounting bushings around (meaty part towards the back). This allows the sway bar to press into an empty space. I also am using rubber bushings, which have more squish than polyurethane.

Luke Sandel installed the same combo (Byrne's arms and Ed's Outriggers) about a year before I did. Note that his outriggers are butted against the shock towers (I believe I am the first to have mounted them against hardened washers)
