Re: [DML] Re: Carbon fiber louvers - New SS frame

The lower control arm is not compliant in any plane where it is required to be rigid by the original design of the front suspension. Live with it.

I have long advocated double wishbones up front, but am often rebuffed by owners who claim a floppier LCA is just fine (not only does the sway bar do a poor job of doubling as a backwards thrust arm, but the LCA itself is skinniest at the pivot point which is inherently unstable, kind of like standing with your legs together versus standing with them spread apart. OEM LCA's are also made of 16 gauge steel, which makes them rather twisty themselves).

Earlier this year I installed a set of Ed Uding's LCA brackets on a pair of 1/8" alloy steel arms, creating pseudo lower wishbones. The result revolutionized the car: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.267044360007488.68655.100001057778755&type=3
