Dave,

The gas is from last fall, but I did put Stabil in it before putting it away.  I'll blow through this tank of gas and refill it before I worry too much about the idle I think.

Pretty sure it's running rich because of whatever is happeneing since if I stand behind the car for any length of time my clothes stink.  I had this thing purring like a kitten under all conditions three or four years ago, so whatever is wrong is just very slightly off, and it's probably not a combination of things.

Did you put fresh gas in it? I've found that gas as old a six months will impact 
ow the car runs in strange ways. 
Could be a fouled O2 sensor too.
