Re: [DML] Re: New Test Procedure for K-Jet

David,

Thanks for sharing this, it is an ingenious way to solve a problem that almost
every Delorean I've ever looked at seems to suffer from.

Where did you get the smoker you purchased? And what brand, etc?

Thanks.
Mike

The long version (longer anyway),
You remove the air cleaner box. Connect the hose of the smoke generator to the
hose from the oil fill cap. Turn on the smoke and hold the throttle open and the
air sensor plate down till you see smoke. Now cap the air inlet to the mixture
unit and pump the motor up with smoke. It will start coming out of the leaks.
Big ones show up faster than small ones. If they are really big you have to stop
pushing in smoke so you can still look for the smaller leaks. The smoker I have
has a hand-held push button so you can turn it on and off easily while looking
for leaks. Once you identify any leaks you fix them and retest to find smaller
leaks. Removing and replacing the air cleaner takes more time than actually
doing the smoke test. Without the benefit of a smoke generator I can tell you
that you should probably just replace the injector seals to start with. EVERY
car I tested had at least one leaky injector seal. A through visual check is
also a good idea to catch any hoses not connected, missing caps, plugs, etc.
