[DML] Re: A/C not cold - but now it is. How could that be?

You are on the right track Harold! My guess is the system is contaminated with moisture and it freezes, thaws, and refreezes making the system work and not work. The fix is to remove the refrigerant, replace the dryer, inspect the orifice tube, flush the system, replace the oil, evacuate the system and refill with refrigerant. This is probably from not properly vacuuming the system at some point in the past when it was filled with refrigerant (like when you had the new compressor installed!).

The a/c compressor was switching on and off (could hear the clicking sound) once every 1-2 seconds. Obviously a problem - I figured a freon leak. So all summer I had no a/c.

Today, just for the heck of it while I was running the car engine, I turned the a/c switch on. Would you believe the air coming out was ice cold!?!?!? The compressor still switched on and off every second but the air was cold.
