It is not that big of a deal.  That is one of many bits of what I call "DeLorean Lore and Legend".  The overall quality of the cars got better along the production run in general, I don't think many will protest that.  Probably the biggest "improvement jump" in overall quality came in October of 1981.  It is no different than some people saying that certain cars are more "desireable" than others.  Some say the "early" gas flap cars are "better" and "desireable", due to the "original" features.  Others will state the later cars (1983) cars are better b/c they were the last built and fewest in numbers.  In reality, it is all a play on words, as time has truly dictated which are the better cars and more desireable based on care and maintainence (and proof of that care in receipts/upgrades).  I know you are just trying to sell your car, and if you say something that will make someone buy it (and they believe it), then so be it.  You were simply repeating what you heard many years ago (and it still goes on to this day).  I have seen the pics and vids of your car on DMCTalk, and for sure it is a nice one based on that.  Good luck with the sale, I think it is more difficult to sell a quality car when so many people look for "cheap" DeLoreans.  I would buy yours over a cheap one anyday, b/c in the long haul, it will cost less to buy the better car.

Yeah, sorry about some of that lingo. You all here of course know these details. I cut and pasted from another ad on a non-DMC forum and forgot to edit. The part about the OCT cars is what someone told me once, and I believed it. Figured that by then, in Oct 81, they had the plant to full production ( most cars were produced that month) and thus the kinks and bugs of assembly worked out and thus a better car.

comments welcome.
