[DML] Re: New DOA President & Vice-President (and some of my ideas for a better DOA)

Personally I always saw the DOA as Serving California at the expense of the other 49 states(and other parts of the world) Basically in a nutshell, from what I have seen in the years that I was a Member of the DOA,was that all the funds were used for the benefit of California and any Chapters there, outside of the Magazine there was absolutely no Benefit to me in Connecticut.

If you Truly want to make the DOA "user friendly" start by calling on all members for their INPUT on articles for the Magazine,in other words ask Members to Volunteer to write articles for DW,have a section Called "Speak Out" where Members can write in Pro's and Con's on Delorean Related matter.People will eat that up !!! Have the FRONT and BACK COVERS Reserved for the Delorean owners Pictures...Have ANY and ALL Delorean Vendors advertise in DW. Have a Section for those people who are restoring a Delorean, you know Quarterly Pictures,so that people can follow their progress.Locate Original Members/or Owners from the early 1980's(like me) and have them volunteer to write a article of their past experiences of owning a Delorean when they were THE NEW CAR on the Block.
I am not saying that Tech articles are not important...but geeze since day one of any Delorean magazine, they have been written over and over to death... rehashing the same tech articles. Make DW a Part of the Delorean Owners experience of owning a Delorean...instead of making it a Delorean Vendors Catalog,or a travel log !!

As for membership fees have different packages, kinda like the Towing clubs do...if all you want and care for is the magazine then have that for a set yearly price, say $30.00 if you want a membership and live in a state outside of California then make it NO MORE than a $45.00 membership,if you live in California then that would be at the highest rate.

As for the DOA itself, any and all leftover funds should be disclosed to all paid members, and the MEMBERS should vote on what to do with those funds NOT DOA or it's Board !! If they say...voted to use those funds to reduce the Membership fees for renewal of existing PAID members so be it,the amount would be split(percentage wise for your type of membership) for that years members EXISTING members renewal, that would surely be a incentive to renew their membership !!!!

Just my $1.00 worth

Linda:
First off, not sure what you mean by "must suck to not have any help in your area". The DMA is my local club and we have tons of events and help each other a lot.

Secondly: is "Southern California DeLorean Club" a DOA chapter? I thought it was a stand alone club (like AZ-D, DMA, etc)

If it is a DOA club, I will rephrase my question for you (not as an attack, but as a point of personal intrigue). What has paid membership to the DOA brought to you? Many of the items you point out are benefits the club has just by existing (not by paid membership). DMA is invited to parades, TV filming, featured at BTTF gatherings/showings , has club gatherings, etc. Do you feel that you have seen benefit by the DOA to justify the yearly price tag?
