Put the jack stands under the control arms at the lower ball joints.... that
is what I do to do long term storage.  It's almost always safe and the car
is supported at that point anyway.

With a Delorean,not a great idea, with a rear mounted engine and a mild
frame and fiberglass body it might not be wise to put it on jack stands for
LONG term storage, as in the long term it might distort the frame or cause
other undesirable effects,such as sticking doors or knocking them out of
wack or EVEN possible cracking of the windshield and possible cracking of
the epoxy coating on the frame leading to future rust on the frame while in
storage....best bet is to put junk tires on it while in storage...just lay
down(ie:drive or push the car) on a tarp under the car to prevent moisture
from the ground or concrete from getting at the under-carriage---
