Hi Dave.

I've only ever seen two failed ones.  Both had electrolytic capacitors that failed from what looked like excessive heat.  Don't remember the consequences.

My hat is off to Jeff Angwin, who came up with the clever idea of just leaving the old board there and just adding the new one.  Wish I had thought of that.  It's a very winning idea.  I was fixated on a solder in direct replacement, which didn't seem practical.

If I can be of service to you mad scientists making the replacement, please let me know.
