RE: [DML] Re: New DeLorean Book...Maybe a Movie! Wow!!

I've always felt that the truth about John DeLorean lay between the various
accounts that have been written about his life.

I've also always wondered what it would have been like to be friends with
John. In that regard, I think this book paints a colorful picture. As
far as discerning between what's fact and what's fiction in the book,I think
that's part of the fun!

Did John want his children to be happy and financially secure after he
passed away? Yes, I have no doubt.

Did he want to start a new car company sometime after the first one went
under? Well, that's what he told us at the Cleveland Show, so I believe that
too!

Did he have trouble raising funds to make that happen because of scammers
and con-artists? Could be.

Did he, at some point, try to develop a "marital aid" to sell on the
internet, in order to make money for the car venture? I hope not, but
having read in "Grand Delusions" about his occasional fondness for low brow
humor, that could have happened as well.

Was he a hopeless alcoholic for the latter part of his life? Well,
recalling an article from years ago that claimed John attended many dinner
parties with his wife, but never had more than one glass of wine the whole
evening and on some occasions didn't even finish that, I would have to
imagine that part of the book was fiction. However, if I had gone through
what John did, maybe I would have started drinking heavily too!

I think what this book does a good job of, is creating doubt. Right now the
majority of people who even know who John DeLorean was, (excluding us
die-hard fans of course) think he's still in jail. If this book gets made
into a movie, maybe those people will start doubting what the mass media
wants them to believe about the man, and maybe they'll look into what he
actually was about. At that point, we can start to make some real headway
towards changing his public image and clearing his name. Even if it is posthumously.

Harben Chandler and his girlfriend sent me a copy of this book, as
they were interested in having us sell it through DMC for them. It was
a difficult read, and as a "fictional story based on actual events",
it muddies the waters even further around JZD's life, and I could find
little to recommend about it. How can it possibly give insight into
JZD's world when there is no way to tell where the fiction ends and
the actual events begin? To me, it asked more questions than it answered.

I can't see how this could be made into anything remotely resembling
even a low-budget independent movie, much less a major motion picture.
