Re: [DML] DeLorean magazines.

Ken: please see my comments:

1. The original message I responded to used the words "thousands". I just commented on his wording. I am full aware that is an unrealistic number for a show

2. While the DOA was "dormant", many local area clubs sprouted and thrived to serve the needs of members. A California club never really appeared, and much of the original board was from California. It "appeared" to be the home territory of the DOA. Forgive me if my personal perception is wrong.

3. I have seen mention the DOA is going to help DCS, but perhaps I have missed posts on exactly WHAT you are doing? Can you give details and not just a blanket statement?

4. You mis-understood my e-mail, but I also clearly explained this to you on our phone call last summer. Let me state it again:
I do not see any "benefit" of joining the DOA. There is nothing you have yet to offer me that entices me. I don't want your magazine (and I have not renewed any of my other subscriptions either, so its not just you), I don't want/need DOA branded items and clothing. You don't throw events in my area, and you have no "perks" for me to take advantage of. So, nothing to entice me to be a member.
I can find tech help and other owners for free via the internet or elsewhere for free.
So....entice me to join! Offer me something unique that makes me WANT to be a member that I can't get elsewhere for free, or via my $15 DMA membership

Kevin,

Some interesting observations you have made. Allow me to respectfully
correct your inaccuracies.

1- There have never been thousands of people at a DCS. The DOA will
never be able to get thousands there. Ken K can't get thousands, the DOA
cant get thousands, it will probably never happen. Hundreds are the correct
range.

2- DCS Las Vegas is not in the DOA's back yard. We don't have a back
yard. We have representation in Florida, Virginia, New-Jersey, Michigan,
Minnesota, Texas, Ireland, France, and California. As an international
association we work everywhere there is a market for us. The President lives
in FL, and the VP in Minn.

3- We are working with Ken K and Ken M on DCS Las Vegas. If you
correctly read Kens posts you would know that.

4- We are not looking to give away anything for free. It's not our
goal; it is not the goal of our paying members. Our goal is to deliver value
to our paying members. To that end many projects are in the works to give
them more deliverables for 2009 than they had in 2008. When you produce a
tangible product that has a cost associated with it, it can't be free.
Somewhere a cost has to be covered.

All the Best,

Ummm....I'm not sure how the DOA directly gets thousands of people and cars
to a DCS show.
Las Vegas DCS in Sept. Is in the DOA's back yard, and they have done little
to nothing (to my knowledge) to support or promote the show.

Either way, I am not joining the DOA until they have something to offer me
that I can't get someplace else/online for free. (And DOA branded
merchandise does not count)

exactly! Join the DOA, buy more parts, get attendance up at DCS (like
a few thousand people and cars).. and cool things will happen

browse through old DOA magz.. they had tons of cool things to buy and
even DOA branded car insurance for its members. talk about neat
