Re: [DML] Re: DeLorean magazines.

Well, if nothing else at least I got some good discussion going again!!

No need to apologize....

The problems that have been stated by you, Josh, and others for why to stay with print can all be overcome. The primary desire to HAVE a printed copy is easy to overcome. PRINT IT! If someone (lowest common denominator) wants to get a nice shiny (expensive) printed copy in the mail instead of on-line, offer it as a service. Let those people pay the premium for it.

Yes, it is easier to copy electronic formats. That is why I said to make it FREE. Then there is no incentive to make "illegal copies". If the advertisements are embedded in the document, then making copies for friends would only help you! More people see the advertisements. Just like I did with the DMA videos, you can watermark photos and other content that you think would be copied. If nothing else, someone stealing that content will only send more traffic back to your site.... and increase your hit count so you can demand higher advertising fees!

Printed magazines are great, but with the publishers of those magazines complaining they cannot afford to continue because subscriptions are low, my suggestion is a reasonable way to try and preserve those publications.
