RE: [DML] NEW STARTING PROBLEM

Did you try to start it while 30 was jumped to 87?

Subject: [DML] NEW STARTING PROBLEM

As most of you know, I was able to get Josh's Beast out for a 5-6
mile spin on Sunday. It ran decent, except for the bogging at about
2500 rpm. After I got back, I let it idle for about 1-2 minutes
before I shut it down so I could check everything.

After it cooled off, I rechecked all the systems to make sure
nothing was coming loose or falling off. Everything checked 4.0.

This morning I went to start it and it would not start. Cranks like
a champ, but will not even attempt to fire. I noticed I could not
hear the fuel pump running or smell even a hint of fuel fumes in the
engine compartment. So, I pulled off the RPM relay, jumpered 30 &
87, and the pump ran like a champ. Put the RPM relay back in and
cranked, no fuel pump running. I swapped the old relay out for a
brand new one, same results, no pump. I checked my connection from
the coil (white/slate) and it is still tight. I checked all the
connections to the ballast resistor, they are all tight. Main fuel
relay checks 4.0 on the bench.

I know the problem has to be something electrical, in the starting
circuit, that came loose on the bumpy 1.5 mile county dirt road that
I live on, but this one has me scratching my head. Any ideas,
thoughts, guesses, ????????
