[DML] Re: Tires (Goodyear has Bad Year at Indy with Nascar)

On a similar note...

The big name tire brands have problems on and off the track.
Just because a tire is a race tire, does not make it better.

Look at what happened at the NASCAR race at Indy this past
weekend. Goodyear has been having problems with compounds
for the tires used on the COT (Car of Tomorrow), but Indy
proved to be the biggest problem all year for Goodyear.

The longest run that any car made in the Cup Series race
was only 12 laps. The race may go down in history as the
race with the most blow outs. Keep in mind these were all
NEW race tires (OK, scuffed a few laps, but all brand new).

Even the race winner, Jimmie Johnson, blew out a tire on the
victory lap (I'm not sure he even did a winner's burn out).

Later,
Rich W.
