Welmoed,

Because I have friends and family there, and because it's several
hours from where I live, I am also using Charlotte, NC as a stopping
point (between New Orleans and Gettysburg).

Charlotte to Gettysburg is doable if you do not mind arriving late at
night, and you don't stop to play along the way. :-)

If you like, you can join the other four or five of us who are leaving
from the Charlotte area.
