RE: [DML] Door locks jammed? new fix!

Yes, for now I would be operating the locks manually, each door
independently by either key or rocker. My larger problem though is that
the linkages are all out of adjustment. First I need to get the
linkages all adjusted properly, then the locks, latches and release
handles will all work properly manually. The I need to clean and check
the operation of the switches inside the doors. At this point the
original door lock system should work fine. I know my solenoids are
still good.

I can then replace the solenoids with Toby's actuators as I have done on
my 1st car. If these are installed and the switches are working
properly then I would want to use a much lower amperage circuit breaker
to protect the system. The I could consider if the lock control module
needed to be rebuilt or replaced.

It all has to go back to the linkages and switches though. Toby's
actuators or rebuilding the control module won't help if the mechanical
bits aren't properly adjusted.

Tom,

Does that mean that you're operating the locks 'manually' (i.e. as if
there were no power to the battery)? I kill the battery when I let the
car sit for days on end or when I work on the car as a safety
precaution, and the locks operate with the key from outside and with the
switch from the inside. I believe Bill Robertson has disconnected the
door lock module and not replaced it and operates his door locks the
same way. (Apologies if I got this wrong, Bill.)

BTW, congrats on recruiting your young mechanic early on. From playing
around on the floor to working upside-down on the creeper should not be
a big change, eh? ;)
