[DML] The crash

Tom,

I can shed some light on that roll over accident. About 6 years ago 8 Delorean owners, of which Marty M., Dave Swingle & I were part of, were waiting for the owner (whose name as I recall was Jack) to show up at the hotel we were staying at in Southern, IL. We were going to help another owner, Michael, do a Delorean frame & body separation/engine removal on a Saturday.

We waited & waited and Jack never showed up. We later heard he was doing about 70-75 MPH on the interstate and had to hit the breaks hard to avoid a collision. When he hit the breaks hard it threw the "D" into the center guard rail which eventually caused the car to flip over and land on the roof. We saw pictures of the car a few days later and it was totalled. I was amazed at how well the "D" took the roll over and that fact the the driver walked away with just a few cuts and bumps. The Delorean really took a hammering but it protected the driver. As I recall , Jack was an original owner and the Delorean was a pristine, low mileage, garage queen. There was talk that maybe the rotors were pitted from lack of use and when the driver hit them hard it caused the car to fish tail into the center rail.
