[DML] Re: AC clutch running continuously

I am NOT saying you cannot convert a -12 A/C system to -134. Reread my
post. The compressor does not need to be changed but you do have to
flush out the old oil. The hoses *should* be replaced and I am sure
the ones you sell will work, the old ones will not last and they will
leak. The evap coil and the condensor coil are not properly sized for
the proper functioning of the system to handle the -134 hence the loss
of some cooling capacity. IMHO as long as -12 is available or you can
use a drop-in replacement it is not worth the conversion. If anyone is
that worried about the environment then the *best* thing they can do
is make sure they have a systen that doesn't leak. There are literally
MILLIONS of old refrigerators and window A/C units in use with R-12.
They don't tend to leak as much because of the hermetic compressors so
they run longer before they need servicing. I don't see many people
converting them to -134. I stand by my years of experience and field
observations of what works and what doesn't.
