[DML] Re: electrical system discharging - help

David - The first test would be to use a quality multimeter to verify
system voltage in the car with and without the engine running. The
gauge on the dash is generally for reference only, and may have decided
to be "grumpy". If the voltage is verified to be that low with the
engine running, then check it at around 1500 rpm's. If it continues to
be low, then my next question would have to be "Where did you get the
alternator from, and what does their warranty look like?". Generally
speaking, the idiot light is a pretty good indicator of failure (more
so than the voltmeter). FYI - A decent alternator will charge at idle,
and give around 14.2 ~ 14.4 volts.
