Yes the headers can be made out of stainless. Problem is that stainless is
so hard it chews up blades, harder to expand for fitting and so much more
expensive. Then you have the bad parts that would have to be thrown away so
it's just costly all the way around. I did ask one of the builder's and they
quoted me around $1200.oo my cost to do. So then were looking at $1595. to
you.
On the good side. My headers are ready to go out. We made connecting pipes
out of stainless to connect the muffler then expanded it to connect to the
header, welded the connecting pipe to the muffler and then use the band
clamp to connect the muffle assembly to the header. Then there is on strap
that goes to a hole already in the frame holding the muffler up on the out
put side. ( No welding) on your part unless you want to weld the hanger. I
will have pictures up in a few day's. The muffler is a Turbo Magnaflow low
grade Stainless but that is all I can get.

Yes, cost is a factor. Here's the answer I got when asked the same
question...
---
[me] "Any future possibility of your exhaust system being made of
stainless?"

[james] "Sure - wouldn't that be ideal? Other than the discoloration problem
and
the higher cost of materials, I see no reason why not to do it this way.
It's
already a limited market product, so adding this expense doesn't, on the
surface,
seem like a viable alternative however."

[me] "I don't see discoloration as a problem."

---

I understand it doesn't initially seem like a financially wise choice for
them,
but with the earlier system rust problems and a few newer ones here and
there, I
wonder if it would have been better to go with ss in the beginning.
Hindsight is
always 20/20 though.
