[DML] Re: Engine/gearbox removal and installation

The closest thing we have to an "Idiot's Guide" is the Workshop
Manual. The procedure assumes some mechanical knowledge but it does
tell you what to remove and in what order. It isn't that complicated.
You disconnect the linkages, battery, remove the starter, support the
motor, disconnect the clutch slave cylinder and C/V joints (don't let
them hang and bend the flanges inside), and remove the transmission.
You might want to remove the gear oil so it doesn't run down your arm.
Go straight out so you don't damage the clutch plate so you need to
support the trans with a jack. This can be done on jackstands but of
course it would be easier on a lift.
