Re: [DML] Re: UN1 gearbox upgrade in the USA

FYI The DeLorean uses the 369 transmission which is the predecessor to
the UN1 and almost identical, but the gearsets are not the same. For
example, the DeLorean and the GTA Atmo share ratios, but not gears (4th
has 35 teeth in the DeLorean and 28 in the GTA to site an example I came
across recently)

I am not sure if the gearset is transferrable, I have not yet tried it
with one of the gearsets I can obtain which is made in the UK by a very
well known name in transmissions. Over 60 sets have been sold to date
with no failures, and one set is in use in a race car with over 600hp of
PRV behind it.

Interestingly, the faikure most talked about in the DeLorean community
is of the input coupler - but always with reference to a chevvy engine
conversion using an off-the-shelf bellhousing. Over here, Esprit V8's
tend to break 5th and the final drive

Best Wishes
