RE: [DML] Re: DeLorean Owners Association Event - Las Vegas May 2007 - Postp

JZD was not an elitist? He wore high-priced suits, dated (and married)
supermodels, had to have a very high-rent NY office for DMC and flew
almost exclusively on the Concorde for his transcontinental flights. He
was hardly Mr. Average Joe. His car was marketed as being for "the
bachelor who had made it," meaning someone of well-above-average means.
It had to be as it was priced nearly $10K more than a Corvette (in 1981,
mind you!), pushing it into Porsche/Ferrari territory. Those are pretty
elite cars, many of which you'll likely find at Pebble Beach. I'm not
condemning JZD. If I was in his position and had his means, I'd likely
live a life some would call "elite".

I'm not trying to be confrontational, just realistic. Due to supply,
demand and interest in the marque, the DeLorean automobile is now
attainable to a wide range of people and that is great.
