[DML] Re: Pulling an engine and auto trans

I've done them both ways, there are advantages to either. 

The engine and trans can be removed as a unit, but my recollection is 
that getting it back in that way was tricky on an automatic. It's a 
pretty tight fit. Take the dipstick tube out before you start and put 
it back in after the trans/engine is in the car. 

If you need both out, pulling it out together it's probably the way to 
go. If you take them out separately (engine first, trans first, doesn't 
really matter but in either case take the muffler off first) you can 
avoid taking off the rear facia, but you will be faced with taking the 
crossover pipe off in the car as opposed to the comfort of your garage 
floor. 

The main thing to remember before you do either is to remove the bottom 
and driver side cover plates that are screwed to the bellhousing, 
otherwise they hang up on the flywheel. In their normal position in the 
car they are almost invisible. 

PS - I'm curious about "tools are not an option" - it's pretty hard to 
get the bellhousing bolts out with just your fingers. You will need 
tools.
