Likewise here. Actually, I don't know the difference (if any?) between
a Grand National engine and the 3800SC I/II engines I'm familiar with.

I'm trying to fall somewhere in between. I want the car to remain a
solid, useful daily driver, but have the power to back up it's exotic
looks. 300hp in a DeLorean would probably be plenty to start with, but
it'd be nice to have an easy upgrade path to 400 or more.

Eh, I don't see the point. The K-Jetronic, while a fine system, is
ancient. I like modern engines with computers. :)

Oh, I agree. I think most DeLorean owners would be happy with an extra
~80hp or so. Certainly most of us who drive the cars on a regular
basis would like a little more power than stock. I just don't see the
point of investing more into an engine I don't appreciate.

Of course. The point is not to be faster than everyone. Just faster
than most of the stock and mildly modified cars we see on the street
every day. I'm not into street racing and probably would never take
the car to a track, but it'd be nice to have the power to, say, pass
people who don't want to be passed before they know what happened.
