Tom, It sounds like the cat is stopped up. A local muffler shop might be
able to test it for you. But cat's are getting bad fast due to the age of
the cars. Keep in mind I have a new performance cat's at a good price.

I think I've got an exhaust system failure.
 
The car suddenly had a loss of power, above 2500 rpms - it seems to max out at about 3000.
