Quickest or Fastest?

Although I'm not a big fan of pushing engines really hard,
I guess a drag race would tell you 1/8 and 1/4 mile numbers,
but does that make the car the fastest or just the fastest
to 1/8 or 1/4 mile?  I guess its all how you look at it.

You can be quick off the line, quick at the 1/8 or 1/4 mile
or highest documented speed - which is considered FASTEST?

I always considered highest top speed as meaning FASTEST and
there are a few DeLorean "hybrids" that could be the FASTEST.

My Grand National powered DeLorean only pulls well from about
1500 RPM through 4500 RPM and then drops off.  I'm sure the
3.8L Turbo engines do much better with roller rockers and
intercoolers, and although fast, mine is only OK fast, as is.

While Marc's scream machine may be one of the quickest and
one of the best mannered DeLorean engine conversions, I do
not know if it is currently making enough HP to get it up
in the highest top speed (or fastest) in the "top" DeLoreans.

Don's monster Buick Turbo engine reportedly makes lots of HP,
but getting it all to the ground and keeping it in control
has been a problem for that car in its past.  Don and Dan
have been looking into solutions to both of these problems.

The Rotary Twin Turbo DeLorean can also make well over 300 HP
and the rotary engine certainly has the ability to spin at a
much higher RPM than other DeLorean engine conversions, but
there seemed to be a few axle durability issues to resolve.

The one that looks the most promising is Robert's "DeLotus"
conversion, with a Twin Turbo Lotus V8 engine.  Although it
does need a little "tweeking" yet, this car appears to have
everything it needs to be the QUICKEST and the FASTEST.

If Robert has the DeLotus all sorted out soon, maybe we can
get DMCH to rent the track again for the DMCH event in 2007?
We would not see the ultimate top speed at the track, but it
may go a long way with the "who's fastest" discussion.
