Ditto...I've got the same problem...thinking warm-up reglator?  Anyone know for sure before we both plop down a considerable chunk of change for a new/rebuilt one?

  No, it's not a typo. My D starts fine, even cold. Then a few minutes later, 
  it farts, stumbles and backfires, with a hollow muffler sound and an extreme 
  loss of power. In about a minute, it's all over, and I can roar off. Not a 
  problem when it was just driven a short time before. Any thoughts on this
