[DML] My great Delorean experience (future owners read)

In response the recent inquiry about good Delorean experiences...

I have wanted a Delorean since I was 5 years old and first saw BTTF
in the theatres. I got my wish last November with the support of my
wife after doing extensive research on the car. We drove vin 2277
1300 miles from Denver to Los Angeles without a single problem. I
did, however, find many problems once I got the car home. None of
these problems proved insurmountable and as new challenges
presented, I would rise to them. I slowly updated my precious 25
year old car, not because it was not drivable, but because I wanted
to head off problems in the future (This is very important for ANY
classic car owner) All in all I have spent more money keeping my
1994 Geo Metro on the road than the Delorean.

Since doing the required updates (at the behest of fellow DMLers)
the car has been completely reliable. I have driven it from Los
Angeles to Fresno (roughly 250 miles each way) three times. Once I
drove from Los Angeles to Fresno, then the next day drove to Pismo
and then back to Los Angeles (roughly 600 miles). No problems. I
trust my Delorean as much as my 2002 Grand Vitara (The delorean gets
better gas mileage).

The Delorean is NOT the most difficult car I have worked on. On the
contrary I have found it quite easy in comparison to the Triumph
Spitfire and BMW E12 (530) I used to own. If you know what you are
getting into before you start a project you will be fine. That
includes having information form the shop manual and more
importantly from others who have actually completed the procedure!
If you do this and you know which way to turn bolts to loosen
them/tighten them you will get on fine.

My Delorean is 100% functional and I am very proud of it. Thank you
DML, SpecialTauto, and DMC Garden Grove.
