[DML] Oil plug

What kind and size of wrench is it that is used to remove the oil plug?  I know it is an 
odd male ended wrench, but I don't have one of these.  What size should I look for at 
the store?  Also, does anyone know of a standard everyday plug that fits the car so in 
the future when I have to change the oil I don't have to spend an hour looking for that 
damn odd male ended wrench?
