[DML] Re: Radio/Cigar Fuse Continually Blows

Console removal is easy, especially for what you want to work on
(maybe). Remove the two screws at the rear of the shift plate.
Remove the shift knob, remove the the shifter boot, remove the AC
console face plate, you should now be able to lift out the console
portion where your rheaostat, clock housing, cigar lighter console
section. Disconnect the wires underneath and note the wire orientation.

Now if you want to remove the whole console, its easy too, sort of,
remove the two screws in the change tray in the back, remove the two
screws behind the shifter, remove the AC conssole face, now you have
to go underneath the dash and remove the 2 phillps head screws at the
front end of the console, look you will find them, they are behind the
kneepads. Then you will need to remove the 6 10mm nuts and washers
holding the console down. Remove all wring from anything attached to
the switches, note wiring orientation, pull all of that out. Lift
console from rear and work it out. Note wiring and vacume hose
routing before you pull the console all of the way out. Installation
a reverse of this procedure, takes all of 20 minutes. Reinstalltion
can take more while you refit all of the wiring.
