Similar to your issue, I would step on my brakes, and
as my car sat - the brake pedals would go down almost
2-3 inches without warning.  Casey informed me it was
the master cylinder starting to go.  Fixed that
problem...

When you replace the MC, spray the bolts holding the
fluid reservoir down with aLOT of penetrating spray -
let them sit for at least an hour.  We had to use a
drill to get the bolts out, and we almost broke open
the brake reservoir - that was 2 days before Pigeon
Forge......was very scary..
