Thanks for everyones reply. I'll take a look at the switch.
 
I knew it wasnt overheating, but compared to the other De Lorean on that day, it was much higher. Also, it was an unusually hot day for Ireland, and sitting in heavy traffic didnt help so perhaps it was a one off, because it never went that high before. (makes me wonder how the car survived at all in Laredo, Texas!)
 
I'm tempted by Toby's adjustable switch!
