[DML] Dealing with windshield when replacing A post trim

I need to replace the A post trim on each side of my interior. I see
that the vinyl seems to pinch in just under the windshield on the
inside.

Is it possible to replace these trim pieces without removing the
windshield?

The Auto Glass Specialists in my area said the odds of the glass
breaking are very good. What has been other peoples' experience
dealing with the main windshield?

I've been a long time reader of the DML and hope to provide some
insight to others with my experience restoring vin#10579 in the future.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
