Re: [DML] Antenna production question

My car is a late '81, vin 6938, and I bought it new. The dealer had about 20
DeLoreans on his lot and they were mixed '81's and '82's. Mine has a fender
antenna as did all the '81's on the lot. The '82's had the retractable
antenna. I've seen many vin numbers earlier than mine with the retractable
antenna so I really can't explain why mine had the fender version. I think a
lot was done in the quality assurance centers and I'd guess a lot of mixing
and matching went on there. I owned my car for a couple of years before I
finally caught a fender in the right light to see that a bit of repair had
been done on it before it was shipped to the dealer.

But what's the VIN cut off for each? I can't >say I've ever seen a D with a
fender antenna... and I >know I've seen at least 100+ DeLoreans by now. Are
