Wheel Repair.

I am hoping to restore the wheels on my Delorean.
Are they Aluminum? It seems like something I should be able to do 
myself. I spoke with a guy and he said it would cost about $600.00 
for him to do whatever to refinish them.
Any knowledge or ideas on this subject?
