Re: [DML] A new twist on the door mechanism problem

Hi Andrew,

(I'm assuming the door works fine from the inside handle). When you take the door trim off, the answer is staring you in the face - probably why it isn't in the archives! The outer handle operates a cable - much like a bicycle brake. At the end of the cable where it links to the latch mechanism, there's an adjustment exactly as you'd find on a bicycle brake - a couple of turns of the nut and your door will open perfectly. I had the same problem and the previous owner had broken the handle trying to open the door!

My problem, however, is that even when the driver's door
is unlocked, it doesn't open most of the time. When I pull up on the
handle, I can feel it come slightly open, but the mechanism clearly does
not fully disengage from the sill.
