I am pretty sure this is a computer/governor problem. My car does the same 
thing. It can be combated by starting the car out with the gear selector in 
a lower setting other than Drive. If I start the car out with the lever in 
2nd (or 1st), it usually signals it and it actually will shift to 1st. But 
if your gov is bad, it will get worse and eventually will be an extreme pain 
to drive. I am dealing with this now. I have stopped driving it until I 
install my new gov!
