I will say this about coatings. A lot of PC board manufacturing companies use 
Crystal Clear Krylon to spray boards with that were going to be exposed to 
the outside. Garrett Electronics that makes metal detectors used it because I 
sold it to them. There may be something different now, but if you must this 
is what they used.
