Paul,

My guess is that you have a bad lower bushing on your shock absorber. I
have had those wear out on other cars, and they clunks with every bump.

Trying to locate a suspension problem like that is harder to do while you
have the weight off of the wheels. This changes the forces on the
connections. Find a way to get under the car while the weight is still on
the wheels. Then maybe you can see which connection the noise is coming
from.
