Re: Help! Idle problems - Microswitch - Loose wires!

Stian, When the engine is cold, the Lambda system for gas mixture is
on manual and sending 80/20 signal to the FV to run a certain
mixture. When things start to heat up, the the sensors start to back
off, then the 02 sensor takes over and sends the voltage to the
Lambda to adjust the air/gas mixture. If the air flow is not adjusted
correctly for the age of the 02 sensor or new 02, then the car is
( Seeking ). Meaning the 02/lambda is looking for the right mixture.
Thus your idle goes up and down. Adjust the air flow meter with a 3mm
long handle allen wrench. Just do a 1/4 turn either direction when
the engine is hot and see what happens. This should be done with a
exhaust analyzer for the correct setting, but the manual may get you
by.
As far as the two wires loose on top of the engine, more than likley
they are the wires fron the micro switch which turns the idle spped
motor on. Black is common normally goes to the center terminal and
black/green to the upper terminal.
With out more specific information, there are two many wires in the
relay compartment to speculiate on where it goes.
What Mike said about the coil is true. Coils do get weak and create
over time a higher resistance and should be replaced ever so often. As
I say on my web site: If you want a little pick me up, the coil can
do it.
