Don't take this wrong but if taking the axles off is a problem you 
should probably not be doing the project. The axles are held in by 
very obvious bolts through the CV joints to the rear hubs and the 
transmission output flanges. Just take the bolts out and the axles 
darn near fall out. Wait until you go to unhook the shift linkage and 
the small metal cover panels - that's where the fun starts. And the 
manual is almost no help there either (unless you consider the 
phrase "disconnect the linkage" a lot of help).
