[DML] Re: transmission problems

Darryl,

This is the first time I have heard a of a component failing in a DeLorean 5
speed transmission due to excessive torque. The 5 speed transmission is
considered "heavy duty" and with the exception of roll pin failures caused
by plastic clutch lines, the trans should be capable of easily handling the
stresses of a high horsepower engine.

I suspect that when your roll pin cut the shaft sleeve, it also damaged the
input shaft coupler This previous damage would explain the unexpected
failure of the input shaft.

I enjoyed your description of your exciting Sunday night trip, isn't it
wonderful that the DeLorean community has many "Arnie Brandon" type owners.

Just another plus of being part of the DeLoren community.
