A stainless lourve would be interesting but the weight compared to the heavy 
fibreglass version must be substantially heavier????

Just thought i would drop a FYI, after checking around
at all the local (us) shops for the stainless steel
bumper letters, i found them in stock at a German
Dealer for around the same price, also i found they
offer pretty much anything you could ever want made
for you D in stainless (left fender panel anyone?).
I was specifically intrested in a whole stainless
steel lourve, that matched perfectly with the rest of
the car (Sounds nice eh?) they do have these as well
but alittle out of my price range right now (about
