[DML] Paint question

Hi,  my D is red, and I was wondering if there is any way to
test the panels (other than by their sound when knocked on, or visually
:), to see if any work has been done to them.  I'm going to be stripping
the paint this summer I believe, but if there is a bad fender or something,
I might not be able to do this.  How long does it take to strip the
paint Could someone also forward the information on the best way to strip
it please?  Thanks,
