Yes to all your questions. The fuel system is a high pressure situation and
"ANY" gasoline in the engine compartment can mean a FIRE! Don't even think
about starting your D until you get all the fuel lines re seated, wash out
the whole compartment and dry it out before starting the D again..

To seat the spark plug wire, get it on the plug and slide your hand down
the wire to the plug pushing and letting it slip through your fingers as
you go, you will feel a slight snap as the cap slips over the plug top
connector.
