RE: [DML] Fuel System Problems

You may have a vacuum leak which causes the control plunger not to go up for
enough to send fuel to the injectors when cranking or the 02 setting is
adjusted to lean with the same effect..

Subject: [DML] Fuel System Problems

I have what is symptoms of a hot start issue, however, the following has
been done.

Replaced the fuel pump, fuel accumulator, and o-rings in the fuel
distributor (connector on the front/right side). With the car running,
fuel pressure is 4.5 bar with the fuel pressure valve open. With the
valve closed, it would cycle between 5.8 bar and 6.2 bar as the
frequency valve cycled (reading pressure coming off the fuel
distributor). Rest pressure is 3bar with no drop over 30 minutes.

Fuel return with just the pump running (engine off) is about 1/2 quart
every 30 seconds (manual shows it should be 1.8 liters every 30 seconds)
at both the fuel pump return and at the accumulator connection (fuel
pump return line blocked off). The adjustment for the o-rings in the
fuel distributor was not changed when the o-rings were replaced. Tried
cooling down the warm up regulator to see if the engine would start with
no success.

Where is the restriction likely to be and is it the cause of the hot
start problem? After the car warms up (radiator fans running), it takes
at minimum 2 hours to start again (and even then it barely wants to
start running).
