Re: [doc] Rich H and Chrispy to the rescue :o)

I carry an extinguisher. I think its a VERY wise investment for a D.

Also, if there is a fire, the electrics could short and lock you in your
car,
which is why its also a good idea to have a fire hammer too, to break
the windscreen, as getting your legs up there to kick it out could be
problematic at best.

Not trying to scare anyone, but its better safe than sorry.

Hi Claire, Richard deserves most of the thanks; he did all the running
around. Glad you are sorted, the last thing you need is hot fuel
dripping down to your cross over exhaust pipe! Are you carrying a large
fire extinguisher like me?

Hi All,

today, during day 2 of the Belper show, which was definately hotter
then yesterday, Rich H and I decided to take a closer look at
Flopsy's driver's door and tried to get it to latch better, however
it seems that the door locks are buggered, so a new pair are going to
be aquired from a scrappy in Derby :o)

Rich also decided to have a look at the timing on Flopsy and found
that was 2 degrees out and duly rectified this too. Top bloke!

However, whilst attending to the timing there was a "why is the top
of the CPR wet...why is there petrol coming from that hose... (engine
swiftly turned off). Rich discovered, that one of my swanky 3yr old
fuel hoses that goes from the CPR to the top of the metering head was
leaking where the banjo fitting goes into the hose. In fact, when
the hose was removed, little effort was needed to pull the banjo
fitting out of the hose...worrying for a high pressure part of the
fuel system :o( Unfortunately, this particular hose was probably
about the only thing not lurking under Rich's bonnet, so Phill phoned
Chris P who gave us the great news that he had a selection of fuel
hoses and yes I could have one. Rich duly went and fetched the hose,
fitted it on and all is well again. I shudder to think what could
have happened as a result of fuel spraying down onto a very hot
exhaust manifold though.....

All I can say is huge thanks to Rich and Chris P for getting me out
of a potentially dangerous situation today. Thank you.

Regards,

Claire
